Calling Web Services from your orchestrations? This easy way of getting Message types setup in your orchestration does not require that you go hunting for message types in a tiny window!

Here is what the end result looks like:

The red boxes indicate that the orchestration designer created Message_1. Here is the procedure:

  1. Add a port to the orchestration designer surface and configure using the Web Port Type as generated when you add a Web Reference (this is the port on the right side of the image).
  2. Add a Send and Receive shape anywhere in the orchestration (Send_1 and Receive_1 in the image).
  3. Find the method you want to call on the port (RegularMethod in this example).
  4. Drag the Request handle to the Send shape.
  5. Drag the Response handle to the Receive shape.

The result is two new Message types that correspond to the Request and Response messages - Message_1 and Message_2 in the image. Rename the message types and you're set.

No more hunting through the tiny Message Type browser in a new Message's properties window!
