Art Of Babel is a project by Erik Westermann, an independent consultant.

Art Of Babel is an independent online magazine covering system integration - EAI, SOA, BPM, ESB, and work flow. The magazine takes the "by and for" approach: by architects and developers, for architects and developers in a fluid marketplace through independent and consistent insight, help, advise, and innovation.

Art of Babel (AoB) is opening at a time when the world's economy is in crisis. AoB is designed to get its funding from advertising revenue; however, I anticipate advertising revenue in the range of low to none in the short term. My consulting business (wWorkflow.net) funds the site's operations since I believe it's important to continue efforts like this, especially during times of crisis.

Although most articles at the launch of the site are mine, I am seeking authors for new articles and may even pay for original content. More details are in the Call for Articles.

Why Art Of Babel?

The name is inspired by the babel fish - a fictitious species of fish from Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. After inserting it into your ear, the babel fish translates between spoken languages making it seem as if everyone speaks the same language.

The Art Of Babel is about integrated, connected communication - between systems and between us as members of the software engineering community.
